From South Korea to USA to Sweden to Puerto Rico... a story of God's sovereignty and grace! How does an orphan with nothing more than the clothes on his back end up preaching the Gospel from Africa to Papa New Guinea to South America to Europe? By the grace of God! Ephesians 2:8 tells us that it is by God's grace that we are saved. God brought Pastor Jake through adoption from an orphanage in South Korea at the age of 6 to a Christian family in Minneapolis where he learned about God's grace and received God's gift of salvation. Then as a teen, God began opening his eyes to the physical and spiritual needs of people
outside of the American culture through several mission trips around the world. It was in Bible college that he met his wife, Elizabeth, and they eventually settled in Pennsylvania where Jake served as a pastor of a local church. While attending seminary, God directed their hearts toward church-planting missions and as a result they visited Venezuela and Argentina. But God sovereignly led them to Europe to start a church in Stockholm, Sweden. After serving there for a decade with their 3 children, God once again sovereignly redirected them to a completely different culture, climate, and language. Jake and Elizabeth Delich began working with a Spanish speaking church in Luquillo, Puerto Rico, in 2016.
Their family went through the experience of Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017...What an introduction to Puerto Rico! With God's love in their hearts and chainsaws in their hands, they were glad to help local communities clear debris in the immediate aftermath of the hurricanes. Eventually American Christians and churches were able to send supplies, and their family spent months delivering much needed supplies throughout the eastern part of Puerto Rico.
Toward the end of 2019, about 3 months before the COVID-19 pandemic, God led Pastor Jake and Elizabeth to start Hope Bible Church in Fajardo. They have a passion to help individuals come into a personal and vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ. They enjoy connecting with families to aid them in connecting with God in everyday practical areas of their lives. With over 25 years of marriage and parenting experience, they offer marriage counseling and parenting advice from a Biblical viewpoint.
