What we believe

At Hope Bible Church, we believe everything about us should declare that Jesus Christ is more desirable than all the pleasures of this world. We encourage one another to engage in weekly worship services, connect through small group Bible studies, and find ways to serve one another and our local communities.

Statement of Faith

We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, His revelation to man, inerrant in the original writings; and that it is therefore the supreme and final authority in all matters of doctrine, faith, and life.  We place high emphasis on the teaching of God’s Word so that our faith may grow.

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  God the Father is perfect in holiness, righteousness, justice and love. Because God created us, He desires to have a personal love relationship with each one of us, made possible through salvation in Jesus.  Jesus Christ is the Son of God who existed from everlasting with the Father, was born of a virgin when He took on human flesh, lived a sinless life, and gave Himself willingly on the cross for the sins of people. He arose from the tomb on the third day, ascended to the Father, and will return to earth one day as Judge and King.  The Holy Spirit is a divine Person and not an impersonal force.  He calls people to salvation through Christ and dwells in the hearts of believers.  Christians are to be filled by the Holy Spirit which is best expressed by the fruits of the Spirit, such as love, joy, and peace.

We believe that the first man and woman was created in innocence and in the image of God. However, in Adam and Eve’s disobedience, sin entered the world and passed to all of us, destroying our relationship with God and resulting in death. Thus, all are sinners by nature and by choice, and therefore are under just condemnation without defense or excuse, and deserve eternal punishment in hell.

We believe that there is good news, the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Salvation is only by grace of God through faith in Jesus, that He died in our place.  We cannot earn our salvation through religious works or our own measure of morality and goodness.  Salvation involves repentance, meaning that we desire to turn from our sin and submit to God's plan for our lives which is an abundant life full of God's amazing spiritual blessings in this lifetime and of course eternal life with Him in Heaven.

We believe that the church, composed of all who have trusted Christ as Savior since Pentecost, is the body of Christ. Christ Himself is the Head of the Church. This spiritual organism is the universal aspect of the church. The local body of Christ is an organized assembly of baptized believers voluntarily associated together in the faith in order to exalt the Lord in worship, share the Gospel with others, and build up believers through teaching, fellowship, and service.
